Kokum – Health Benefits

Kokum, known as Baddu huli in Kannada is a deep red/purple fruit grown across Western Ghats and costal India. It is used in abundance by the people belonging to this region. This fruit has sour and sweet taste.

Kokum is used in the treatment of heat strokes, piles, indigestion and heart diseases as well.
It also helps us reduce food intake and thereby help in weight reduction.
 It is an anti cancer and anti cardiovascular agent. It helps fight against these diseases.
Kokum recipes
Kokum is most commonly consumed in the form of Kokum sharbat. This helps hydrating the body in summer. It is also taken in the form of rasam, kadi etc. The sweet and sour taste of it is just awesome. It is also used as an alternate to tamarind.

Foods that help in controlling weight

Weight control is major concern these days. Sugar craving and curbing appetite is on top priority these days.
